I am captivated by Centralia, the “town on fire” – an almost ghost-town in the heart of coal country, Pennsylvania. The coal under the town has been on fire for over 40 years, and because of it the town has been gradually abandoned. The government has deemed the town unlivable, but there are several holdouts that refuse to move. Everything else has been razed.
