Despite my hatred of cold weather, I’ve been doing a lot of winter photography – including some in Alaska. Instead of being at some tropical location in February, you would have found me at the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. Despite being assured that it “never snows” for these winter photo specials, snow was definitely falling during the shoot – in addition to the already deep snow blanketing the ground. The majority of the day was grey, with the sun only appearing for approximately three seconds at the very end of the journey. Although it was a grey and snowy day for photography, the environment was perfect for black and white captures, with an occasional splash of color.
